I had a very enjoyable week in Canada! To everyone who makes Canada such a great place to be a reader or a writer, thank you. Thank you to Paivi for baking me a traditional Finnish flatbread and bringing it to me in my signing line in Toronto. Thank you to Susan and her rather lovely pug for inviting me to her home to do the interview when Ottawa’s downtown was gridlocked by President Obama’s inspiring visit. Thank you to Giles Blunt, Ken Rivard and Priscilla Upall for being fascinating authors to do events with. Thank you to Gerald for springing to my defence against a desperate act of journalism. Thank you to Jennifer for reminding me that skiing is often more fun than reading. Thank you to my hippy friend Sim’s cousin Alexandra for proving that it’s a small world, and thank you to Sean Wilson of the Ottawa Festival for taking us all out for drinks. Thanks also to Nicola Makoway, a dream publicist and the only one I know to have nearly suffered an embarrassing case of frostbite. Thank you to all the journalists and bloggers who gave my book such kind attention. Thank you to the Ottawa Festival and the Harbourfront Series for inviting me over. And last but very much not least, thank you to my Canadian publishers, Bond Street Books, who have stuck with me through thick and thin. Thank you.
