I LOVED LOVED LOVED ****GOLD****!!! I have told dozens of my friends about it. I was able to relate to ‘both’ woman in te book. (ok, my ‘younger’ me/s).
I live in California (the Bay Area) —and I am not sure how much ‘buzz’ chatting is going on in your country —but I don’t hear enough about your book ‘here’….and I dn’t know why
*GOLD* was the perfect contemporary book –and the perfect book fr all the fitness nuts living in my area. — Its also such a heart felt passionate ‘relationship’ story.
I jut can’t tell you enough how much I loved your book! No words I can write would come close to my inner experience.
Hello Elyse – thank you so much. I’m delighted you enjoyed ‘Gold’. Researching it was one of the most extraordinary times of my life, and I’m glad if something of the intensity of the experience comes through on the page!
I love how your stories are about life and the lessons we learn from being human. Thanks
Thank you, Bess. I’m going to keep trying to write those kinds of stories. The lesson I keep learning is that I know less than I thought I did…
Once again an outstanding book – Gold – it has you there in the velodrome with all the excitement that it brings. Then the sadness of dealing with a child with leukaemia. It is heart wrenching to see how they all suffer but boyed up with the thought of hard work and gold medals – its all so poiniant to life – the ups and downs that we all deal with. Wonderfully written and I really enjoyed reading it.
I read The Other Hand and I enjoyed that too. You have a wonderful way of making us all think about life and how the actions to one situation cause a ripple effect to the results.
I have read both these books for a book group I belong to and we will be discussing Gold in a couple of weeks time!
Many thanks again – can’t wait for your next book.
You bring out the worst in me! Today I feigned mild illness so that I could stay in bed and finish ‘Gold’. (Only kidding myself really, as I’m self-employed.) Was as involved by ‘Incendiary’ and ‘The Other Hand’. You’ve definitely achieved your aim to be ‘Someone who asks for the reader’s time and never wastes it.’ This geriatric Celt loves you, Mr. Cleave. ;-p
