    1. I don’t see New York on your tour list. There is a great bookstore in Huntington, Long Island called Book Revue, that has a lot of celebs and authors appear. I will ask them if they plan to have you and if so, I will be there! Cheers!

    2. Hi Sally, thanks for your message. There was a NY event scheduled on this trip, but it was cancelled sadly. Very sorry about that. But with faith and a following wind I will be returning to do many more events in NY, I hope.

    3. Tonight I am leading my book discusion group on Little Bee in Greenwich, Conn. Wonder why you lived in Cameroon and how it inspired you to write Little Bee. Loved the book.
      Thanks. Madeleine

    4. Hi Madeleine, first of all, thank you for reading Little Bee with your book group. I hope they all enjoyed it. I’ve done a few events in Greenwich, CT over the years so maybe I’ve already met some of them! In answer to your questions: We were in Cameroun because my father had a job there, in a place called Douala which is pretty much on the equator. My brother and I had our early childhood there. I don’t think the experience inspired me to write Little Bee, although I’ve often seen that written. Really I wrote the novel because, many years after moving back to the UK, I had a student holiday job working in the kitchen of an immigration detention centre in England. The conditions in which the refugees were kept was shocking to me, and made me want to tell their story in a manner that was more sympathetic than the press coverage they were receiving at the time.

    5. It was my pleasure to meet you this afternoon at the Toco Hill-Avis G. Williams library near downtown Atlanta, Georgia. Thank you for taking time to chat with me a few minutes at the signing table. I’m sure your new book, Gold, will be just as exciting to read as Little Bee; and of course, I now have your first book Incendiary to add to my reading list.

    6. Thank you, Mary – I enjoyed meeting you too. Thanks for coming to the show, and I hope you’ll enjoy the books!

    7. Oh Chris Cleave, how I wish you were coming to London, Ontario! Absolutely loved GOLD. One of the best books I’ve ever read. Loved it. My book club is now reading it based on our shining reviews. I am spreading the word on this awesome book. Will be adding Little Bee to my reading list as well. Cheers!
